Hunger Games Party - food setup

My daughter really got into helping me choose food that fit each district. We were not able to cover every one, but most of them represented at the banquet.
District 1: provided the cupcakes (luxury)
District 4: fried popcorn shrimp and clams, gold fish (fishing)
District 5: Flaming Hot Cheetos (power)
District 6: Bagel Bites (shaped like wheels for transportation)
District 8: fabric on the tables (textiles)
District 9: french bread (grains)
District 10: mini hamburgers and meatballs in bbq sauce (lifestock)
District 11: fruit cornucopias (agriculture)
District 12: Peeta's Sweet Bread (cinnamon monkey bread), Prim's Goat Cheese (spread), Katniss' Cheesy Bread
We also served "Sleepy Syrup" (Big Blue soft drink) and the Capitol provided a Candy Bar (purchases candy after Easter and Valentines) for their favors.

I downloaded a free Hunger Games font and printed all the labels myself on lt. brown card stock. I used my black ink pad to "age" the tags.

Hunger Games Party - part 2

For this post, I am going to talk about all the paper goods. I downloaded and used all the free pieces I listed in my previous post. I have posted some pics to show you how all of them turned out. I did not want to spend too much money on them, since most of it ends up in the trash, although, the kids loved and kept them all!

Hunger Games Party

Here are the first things I have made for Grace's Hunger Games Birthday Party. She is turning 11 and wants to have boys and girls at her party. She is also totally obsessed with the Hunger Games, so it was fitting to have it as her party theme. I scoured the internet looking for as many free printables as I could find. So many wonderful blogs offer so much great free stuff!
Here's what I found:
Living Locurto - has the invitation, tags, bookmarks, flags, and poster I printed.
I purchased black 6x6 envelopes at Micheal's in their Mix + Mingle section. They were $2.99 for a pack of 10 (I bought 2 packs.) I printed off some 40% off coupons before I went.

I always want my kids parties to be fun, but frugal. I use as many things as I can that I already own and try to search for inexpensive items. I will post all my expenses on here as well.

Tomorrow is my Birthday!

So, I have been contemplating my 38th birthday. Yes, I am turning 38 tomorrow. Am I doing what I'd imagined I would be at 38? Absolutely NOT! We all have dreams when we're children that we'll have a mansion, a great job being a famous fashion designer, a loving and supportive husband who is a world famous rock star who tours the world, and 2 or 3 kids, who are perfect. And then we grow up!
I have a beautiful house that I live in with my parents and my four children, who are no where near perfect! I am still working toward my life goal, but it's not to be a fashion designer. And, I have been through a divorce and am looking for that loving, supportive husband. I could care less about the "rock star" part. So, I am turning 38. I have new dreams and goals now. I think they are a little more realistic. They still take a LOT of work on my part. I want to share them so I can be held accountable to them. I have them written on card stock hanging above my desk. I have to look at them every day!
Here goes:
1. Finish school. All the way to PhD.   PhD = Professor at a University
2. Professional photographer. I want to travel and do humanitarian photography work for UMCOR.
3. Successful blog. One that is sponsored and followed by many. I want to use it to help other women find their voice and accomplish their goals.
4. Christian Women Art Retreats. I want to host at least two retreats a year helping women feel the love of God and be able to express that love through their creativity.
5. A Husband. Someone that supports everything I do, encourages me to grow, loves me and my kids unconditionally, is my partner in everything, makes me laugh, and has great conversations with me.
6. Travel. I want to see the world. ALL of IT!

So, a long list but one I think I can handle. I know it will change some as the years go by, but I am going to work HARD to make most of it happen!
